330 participants from 10 countries took part in the road race Ruse - Giurgiu

The traditional road race "Run of the Free Spirit Ruse - Giurgiu" was held today. 330 participants from 10 countries took part in its sixth edition. The organizers of the event are the Ruse Municipality and the Sport Athletics Club "Dunav".

This year the start of the 15-kilometer route was given in front of the Court Palace in Ruse at 11 am by the Deputy Mayor of Ruse Municipality Dimitar Nedev. Participants walked along the  'Aleksandrovska' str.,  "Dorostol"str., Blvd. "Tutrakan", along the Danube Bridge and finished in the square in front of the Municipality of Giurgiu.

The only cross-border marathon in Eastern Europe was supervised by 50 volunteers and judges, with the predominantly flat course passing through the main sights of the two Danube cities.
Each participant received a commemorative medal immediately at the finish, and the fastest men and women in the general classification and by age group also received cash prizes. In the men's race the fastest was Kenyan Kennedy Kimutai, who covered the course in an impressive 42 minutes and 34 seconds, and in the women's race - Glorious Yepkirui, also from Kenya, with a time of 48 minutes and 51 seconds. All winners were awarded by the deputy mayors of Giurgiu and Ruse municipalities Marian Damyan and Dimitar Nedev.
