5108 lv. gathered the volunteers in the initiative "Through Sport to Knowledge"

More than 350 citizens of Ruse took part in the charity marathon "Through Sport to Knowledge" to enrich the collection of the Regional Library "Lyuben Karavelov". The event was held on Sunday at the Youth Park. The organizer is the eponymous foundation with the support of the Municipal Foundation "Ruse - City of Free Spirit". Participants in the marathon ran a total of 5108 laps, each of which was 400 meters and "valued" at BGN 1.

Among them were Mayor Pencho Milkov and over 30 employees of Ruse Municipality. The Director of the Regional Library Teodora Evtimova and her team also actively participated in the charity run.

The youngest participant in the cause was Plamena Borislavova, a year and a half old, who managed to run 3 laps of the course. And 78-year-old Ivan Grozev was the oldest volunteer in the marathon. He ran 48 laps or more than 19 km. Kaloyan Kyuchukov had the most laps - 89. He was awarded a plaque for his achievement, which equates to 35. 6km.

"We would like to thank the people of Ruse for their enthusiasm in taking part in the event for the second consecutive year. Without the strong support of the Ruse Municipality and the Municipal Foundation "Ruse - City of Free Spirit" this cause would be just a dream. I am glad that the community and business in the city welcomed us with open arms and also joined the charity initiative," said the organizer of the "Through Sport to Knowledge" Foundation Alexander Todorov.

To the sum of 5108 BGN collected by the citizens of Ruse. marathon organizers will add more funds to purchase and donate new books to the library. The editions are selected according to the wishes indicated by the readers in special questionnaires.

Every participant in the charity marathon left with a prize from the organizers, and some were lucky in the raffle organized after the end of the tours. The Foundation "Through Sport Towards Knowledge" had prepared t-shirts provided by the partners of the event, as well as sets of books donated by the Regional Library "Lyuben Karavelov".
