An initiative of the Municipality of Ruse turned student ideas into messages to nature

Thursday, 02 July 2026

At the initiative of the municipal enterprise "Communal Activities", students from the 10th grade of the Vocational High School of Woodworking and Interior Architecture "Joseph Vondrak" implemented the project "The Tree Speaks!". They made wooden signs with original eco-messages, which they placed today in the Forest Park "Lipnik", in the area of the small lake. The idea is to encourage visitors to protect nature through positive and impactful messages.

The project began with a question asked in an art class - "If trees could talk, what would they tell us?". It was this that inspired the students to create their works.

The only condition for the young artists was that the signs should not be boring and forbidding, but should attract attention and make people think about their attitude towards nature. Instead of another school project, the classroom turned into a creative studio filled with ideas, colors and inspiration.

Each student created their own concept and drawing. The wooden signs depicted trees, birds, animals, flowers, butterflies and green landscapes, all carrying a common message – to protect nature and take care of it. The young people also wrote their wishes for visitors to the forest park on the backs of the signs.

The “Tree Speaks!” initiative is an example of a successful partnership between the Municipality of Ruse and young people in support of environmental protection. The project shows how good practices for preserving the municipality’s natural wealth can be encouraged through creativity, active citizenship and personal commitment, said the МЕ “Communal Activities”.
