In the presence of his family and friends Hristo Kolev celebrated his 100th birthday today at the club of the District Council of the Union of War Veterans of Bulgaria.
"Be healthy and ever so cheerful and cared for by the love of the closest!", is the wish from Ruse Municipality. Deputy Mayor Encho Enchev presented the jubilee with a congratulatory address and a cash prize.
The head of the Military District I degree - Ruse Lieutenant Colonel Vasil Petrov presented him with an honorary plaque from the Minister of Defence for participation in the Second World War.
Hristo Stoyanov Kolev was born on 31. 07. 1923 in Baniska village. He grew up in a large family with 9 children. He enlisted as a soldier in the 33rd Infantry Svishtov Regiment (also called "the iron" or "the stiff" regiment). Participated in the first phase of World War II, with the regiment based in Macedonia. She met her older sister Denka Stoyanova, who volunteered for the war, by chance at the front.
After his return, Hristo started working as a baker-furnisherman in his native village and other towns in the country. Retirement age found him in the bakery in Ruse. For his constant care, the centenarian is forever grateful to his niece Ekaterina Stoyanova, with whom they share a home on the street. "Borisova".
