Ruse Municipality and the regional administration marked 151 years since the death of the Apostle of Freedom Vasil Levski.
"We must remember the legacy of Levski and bear the memory that love for Bulgaria is the highest duty and responsibility of each of us. It gives us strength to continue to educate our children in the legacy of the Apostle – in the love for our country, in readiness and sacrifice, "said Mayor Pencho Milkov.
Under the sounds of solemn marches performed by the Municipal Brass Band conducted by Dimcho Rubchev, the honorary guard of Military Formation 32420 I and the 13th Youth Guards Detachment at the Municipal Youth House welcomed the citizens of Ruse and the guests of the city. Wreaths as a tribute to Vasil Levski were laid by the Mayor Pencho Milkov, the Regional Governor Danail Kovachev, the Chairman of the Municipal Council Acad. Hristo Beloev, representatives of political parties and citizens.
17-year-old Maxim Atanasov from the Vocational High School of Construction, Architecture and Geodesy in Ruse performed Botev's poem "The Hanging of Vasil Levski".
The ceremony ended with a memorial prayer and a thanksgiving prayer in memory of the national hero, who were served by priests of the Holy Bishopric of Ruse.
Host of the ceremony was the actor from the Drama Theater "Sava Ognyanov" Ventsislav Petkov.
