BGN 2.6 million allocated by the state for the construction of a sports hall with a swimming pool in ''Drujba'' district

The Council of Ministers approved the transfer of BGN 2 665 500. to Ruse Municipality for the construction of a sports hall with a swimming pool in the yard of "Vasil Levski" Secondary School in ''Drujba'' district . With Decree 41 of this month, the government redirected the funds it allocated in December 2021 to repair the infrastructure and ensure the operational suitability of Ruse Airport.
"This is another support of the state on an important issue for Ruse, because in the neighborhoods "Drujba" and "Charodeyka", where a large part of the population is concentrated, there is no other sports facility. When the project started, we planned to set aside annually amounts for its implementation, but in the current situation I hope to make decisive steps faster, "said Mayor Pencho Milkov.
The construction of the sports hall with pool began in 2020, but was stopped after the construction company was declared bankrupt at a time of rising inflation and a sharp appreciation of building materials.
Along with 1. 2 million Lv. targeted subsidy, the amount that the Municipality provides this year for the site, becomes 3. 8 million Lv. The total value according to current prices is 5. 5 million Lv. half a million has already been spent.
"This means that the provision of a little more than 1 million leva remainsq which is quite a possible cost for the municipality," Milkov explained.
In addition, Ruse Municipality has prepared the technical assignment for the selection of a new contractor and the announcement of the public procurement is to be announced as soon as possible.
After the signing of a contract with Airport Ruse Ltd. , which has already implemented the first steps of its investment program for the airport, the allocated 2. 6 million Lv. was envisaged to be returned to the state. With the efforts of Mayor Pencho Milkov, however, they are not "lost", but are redirected to the other important project for the community.
