Back in 2021, Ruse Municipality announced a project for the restoration and conservation of one of the emblems of the city, but due to no candidate it was terminated. In 2010, the bronze figure was strengthened, and between 2006 and 2018, periodic geodetic measurements and calculations were made to establish vertical and horizontal deformations, with deviations of the 4. 30 m horizon over 12 years amounting to 9. 00 m.
The Freedom Monument in Ruse was opened in 1909 and has the status of historical, architectural and artistic immovable cultural property with the category "national importance". The project was designed by the Florentine Arnaldo Dzocchi, who is also the author of the monument to ''Tsar Liberator'' in Sofia.
