Children from the Crisis Centre made Christmas cards on International Migrants Day

Monday, 18 December 2023

On the occasion of the International Migrants' Day, children from the Crisis Centre made special cards to greet the citizens who received food from the Warm Lunch project. Later in the day they were received by Mayor Pencho Milkov, who welcomed them and congratulated them for their initiative.

We would like to remind you that Ruse Municipality as a border zone opened the only social service "Crisis Centre for Unaccompanied Children, Foreign Citizens and Refugee Children at Risk", which is a state delegated activity where children receive 24-hour specialized care.

Part of the migrant wave are unaccompanied children, sent by their owlish parents with the difficult task of reaching a European country so that they can later be reunited with their biological families, according to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
On this date in 1990, the United Nations adopted the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families. The reason for the new international act is the growing number of migrants worldwide.

All citizens who have left their country in search of a better life are migrants. According to statistics, 3% of the total population of the Earth has this status.
