Christmas greetings to local people from Ruse

The traditional Ruse caroling took place today in front of the Municipality building. The carolers from Nikolovo village were welcomed by the mayor Pencho Milkov and called for health, prosperity and well-being.

"Traditions are what preserve us as a people. Thank you for the festive mood you create," the mayor said and wished them to pass on the tradition to their sons and grandchildren and to make their wishes to the people of Ruse come true.

The participants from the National community center "Probuda - 1901" recreated the custom "Christmas Eve" and put on the table 9 fasting dishes, and the oldest of them burn with incense the table, so that the harvest would be rich during the year and diseases would not reach it.

Brazaya - an ancient ritual traditional for Eastern Bulgaria - also aroused interest.

Brazaya is a masked man who resembles a whimsical fantastical animal adorned with multi-colored tassels and bells. It portrays the attitude towards hard work and laziness.

The celebration is part of the Christmas-New Year Festival 2022, organized by Ruse Municipality.
