Citizens of Ruse honored the memory of those who died in the Armenian Genocide

Late last night, the anniversary of the Armenian Genocide was commemorated in the courtyard of St. Mary's Armenian Church. The ceremony was attended by many citizens, the Mayor Pencho Milkov, the Chairman of the Municipal Council Ivo Pazardzhiev and the Deputy Governor Detelina Acheva.
The commemoration began with a prayer service and a speech by the head priest in the church. Afterwards, children from the Armenian community and the Armenian Scout organization told memories of their families' persecution and recited poems. Historical facts from the time of the genocide were presented by Manuel Mandonian. The program was prepared by the People's Chitalishte "Angela Chakaryan - 2008".
At the end of the ceremony, the attendees observed a minute of silence in memory of the fallen and the gathered citizens laid flowers.
Earlier in the day, representatives of the Armenian community laid a wreath at the Freedom Monument in gratitude to the Bulgarian people.
