With a reception at a hotel in Sofia, the Embassy of China in Bulgaria celebrated the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Asian country and Bulgaria.
The host of the celebration was H. E. Dai Qingli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Bulgaria. The event was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Ruse Municipality Zlatomira Stefanova, who presented a congratulatory address on behalf of Mayor Pencho Milkov. In his welcoming speech, he emphasized the importance of the long-standing relations between the two countries, based on mutual respect, trust and fruitful cooperation. "I believe that the future years will be filled with new successes in the relations between Bulgaria and China, and we will continue to build bridges of understanding, mutual support and friendship," says the congratulatory address.
The festive event was opened by H. E. Dai Qingli, who welcomed the dozens of official guests at the reception. Among them were President Georgi Parvanov and Constitutional Judge Yanaki Stoilov.
The First Diplomat of China noted in his speech the excellent cooperation between the PRC and Bulgaria over the years, as well as the good prospects for the future development of bilateral relations. H. E. Dai Qingli pointed out that in the last decade, the volume of trade has increased by 130. "The two countries have made many achievements in agriculture, new energy sources, telecommunications and automotive. Bulgaria has become China's largest trading partner in the field of agriculture in Central and Eastern Europe," the diplomat stressed. Ambassador Qingli expressed gratitude for the fact that Bulgaria is the second country to recognize the People's Republic of China after its foundation.
A special guest of the event was the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria Iliana Yotova. In her speech, she pointed out that the Bulgarian and Chinese people continue to confidently write the history of their long-standing friendship, noting that the recipe for sustainable Bulgarian-Chinese relations is mutual trust, respect, desire to get to know each other, dialogue and partnership. The Vice President stressed that in today's increasingly divided and conflict-ridden world, it is necessary to re-read the lessons of the past more often and draw from the wisdom of our long-lived civilizations.
The event was accompanied by a rich cultural program, including performances by Bulgarian and Chinese artists. Official guests of the celebration were senior Bulgarian politicians, cultural figures, businessmen and representatives of the scientific community.
