Free public transport travel and street closure on European Car-Free Day

On the European Car-Free Day - September 22, free of charge in the vehicles of Municipal Transport will travel 1 companion per child up to 10 years of age, holding a public transport travel card. This is one of the many initiatives dedicated to the European Mobility Week.

On September 22 / Friday / from 9 am to 5 pm Ruse Municipality will close for entry of vehicles streets "Khan Krum" and "Khan Asparuh", where will be located measuring air purity station.

On this day, Velo-Ruse Association will also demonstrate movement on counter-flow / oncoming bicycle lanes / in the closed section.

On September 20 / Wednesday / from 16:00 to 18:00 in the Youth Park at the beginning of the alley "Peristeri" will be held several events as part of the campaign.

Children from several kindergartens will draw on the theme "Cars of the future". The graduates of "Chuchuliga" Kindergarten and Secondary School of European Languages "St. Konstantin-Kyril Philosopher" will draw with chalk on the theme "Saving the natural resources of the planet, through ecological movement and consumption of our human energy".

There will be a quiz with questions related to the city of Ruse, safe movement and alternative movement. The "SpoDari" Foundation will conduct training in the form of a game for the children.

 "Tumba Solutions" stand will also be located on Peristeri alley. Participants will be able to register on the WeRide mobile app they developed.

European Car Free Day is held annually on September 22. The idea for it originated in France and was implemented for the first time in 1998. It is an international campaign during which the central areas of many European cities are closed to car traffic.

The objectives of the campaign are the formation of an environmentally friendly way of thinking and also a way of life among European citizens, explanatory activity on the negative aspects of road transport in urban conditions, promotion of alternative means of transport in large cities, including the wider use of public transport , a demonstration of the idea that life without cars is not only possible, but more enjoyable. European Day Without Cars aims to reduce noise and harmful gas emissions in the air, as well as improve the quality of life in large cities.
