The people of Rus from the territorial organization of the National Association of the Deaf-Blind in Bulgaria and the regional organization of the Union of the Blind in Bulgaria returned with gold medals from the XV Republican multi-genre festival of people with disabilities.
This year the event is entitled "Art makes sense of our life" and gathered over 1,500 participants from all over Bulgaria.
On the open stage in the "Church" neighborhood of Perni, people with disabilities from all over the country sang, danced, recited and presented customs characteristic of the various Bulgarian regions.
In addition to the performances on stage, the festival also includes a national exhibition under the motto "Victory of spirit and dexterity". It displayed many and varied products and souvenirs made by people with disabilities. The daredevils who participated in cooking also enjoyed deserved interest outdoors, as well as the Craft Alley.
The oldest participant of the festival was 93-year-old grandfather Ioto from the village of Krušovitsa, who recited patriotic poems.
The event is organized with the assistance of the Agency for People with Disabilities, the Municipality of Pernik and the Union of the Disabled in Bulgaria. Its goal is for people with disabilities to have fun, gain confidence and feel like full members of society.
In order to encourage their creative performances, the mayor Pencho Milkov provided the participants from Ruse with free municipal transport and declared his readiness to assist in the realization of their future activities.
