In the village of Sandrovo in Ruse was celebrated the traditional Bulgarian holiday Trifon Zarezan. The villagers made the ritual pruning of old vines and planted 91 new vine bushes. The Mayor of Ruse Municipality Pencho Milkov also took part in the celebration.
"May the year be fruitful, let it be in prosperity, let us be alive and well, as many buds on the vineyard, as many barrels in the cellar. " With these words, Borislav Marinov, chosen as the "King of the Vineyards", addressed the residents of Sandrovo. He overflowed the vineyard, cut a stick and donated the mayor of the village Georgi Penkov.
"Bulgarian traditions must be preserved. They make us stronger and more united. We are on the verge of spring and despite the gloomy weather, today we celebrate the holiday of wine and love with the hope that the year will be fertile and successful for all, "said Mayor Pencho Milkov.
Later, local wine and cabbage soup could be tasted in a specially erected authentic Renaissance pub.
The celebration of Trifon Zarezan is associated with the beginning of the agricultural year.
