Mayor Pencho Milkov awarded the basketball players of "Dunav Ruse 2016" for their success at the State Championship for girls

"Your successes are a great honor for our city. These are moments that are inspiring, but do not ignore the ones in which your opponent defeats you, because they will also teach you valuable lessons for life. Do not stop training hard and dreaming with inspiration, because Ruse is proud of you and I and our fellow citizens believe that many more peaks await you."

With these words, Pencho Milkov welcomed the young players of the Basketball Sports Club "Dunav Ruse 2016". The mayor awarded the representatives of the SKB with medals for their excellent performance during the state championships for girls up to 12 and 14 years of age. A plaque for the performance of the teams was also awarded to the coaches of "Dunav Ruse 2016" Ruslan Rusev and Magdalena Atanasova-Milanova.

At the meeting in the Municipality of Ruse, the young basketball players told about the championships and the difficulties they experienced during the matches and how they overcame them. According to them, the instructions of their coaches and their team spirit have helped them beat their competitors. They shared with the mayor about the challenges of combining daily training with maintaining a high level at school.

"Dunav Ruse 2016" became the champion of the state championship for girls up to 12 years of age, after defeating Slavia with 90:78 in the capital's "Triaditsa" hall. The Ruse basketball players up to 14 years old ranked second in the state championship held in Varna, where they lost to "Rilski Sportist". The two teams played a very contested match, in which Rousse were leading by 8 points before the final quarter, but their opponent managed to erase their passive and send the match into overtime. The match ended with 59:49.
