Mayor Pencho Milkov awarded the volleyball champions of "Dunav" - Ruse

The Mayor of Ruse Pencho Milkov awarded the volleyball players of "Dunav" - Ruse and their coaches for their triumph over the team of Etropole and winning the Cup of the Bulgarian Premier League. For their success the team received a statuette "Ruse" and diplomas.

"Whatever I say will be small, the pride of triumph is still great. The cup brings joy not only to you and your coaches, but to your families and the entire city you have shown your strength to," the mayor addressed the coaches and athletes.

In his words, the municipality is doing everything possible for the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation to choose Ruse for hosting matches and major tournaments.

"So far the team has played 13 games without a loss, and we are focusing on the Premier League Championship," said the team's head coach Krasimir Mironov.

Assistant coach Danko Tonev said that the strongest moment during the final cup match was when the opposing team had a two-game lead. The Rousse boys have mobilized in such a way that they have gone from being totally outplayed to becoming the stars of the championship.

The award ceremony was also attended by Deputy Mayor Zlatomira Stefanova, the President of the Municipal Council Acad. Hristo Beloev, the director of OP "Sports Estates" Lachezar Ivanov, the manager of SCV "Dunav" Valeri Andreev and members of the Youth and Sports Commission.

The volleyball players of "Dunav" - Ruse won the Cup of the Bulgarian Premier League, after they defeated Etropole 3:2 (20:25, 23:25, 25:15, 25:21, 15:9) in the grand final of the competition, played in the "Levski Sofia" hall.

The Ruse team reached the final after beating Victoria Volley (Plovdiv) in the previous round, while their rivals from Etropole eliminated last year's trophy winner Zvezdets (Gorna Malina).

Hristo Kostov from the Ruse team was awarded MVP.
