Mayor Pencho Milkov launched the 62nd edition of March Music Days

With a world premiere of the music to the ballet "Kaliopa" by Emil Tabakov and a full hall was opened the 62nd edition of the March Music Days Music Festival tonight in the Dohodno Zdanie. The start of the emblematic forum for Ruse was given by Mayor Pencho Milkov. This year the festival, organized by the Municipality of Ruse and under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, will be held from March 16 to April 2 and within it will be held a total of 27 events.
"For the 62nd time, Ruse is music again and it is an honor for us to be the first to enjoy the work of Maestro Tabakov," the mayor addressed the attendees. He expressed his gratitude to the Ruse audience, which remained loyal to the festival throughout the years since its establishment until today.
The official opening ceremony of the March Music Days was attended by the Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria Iliana Iotova, the Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov, the Deputy Mayors Zlatomira Stefanova,Magdalina Ilieva, Dimitar Nedev and Encho Enchev, the Regional Governor of Ruse Anatoli Stanev, the Deputy Governor Detelina Acheva, the Chairman of the Municipal Council Ivo Pazardzhiev, representatives of political parties, sponsors and benefactors of the festival, as well as many citizens of Ruse and guests of the city.
On the occasion of the premiere of "Calliope" in Ruse arrived the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bulgaria and the Consul General of Turkey in Burgas, the Bulgarian Ambassador in Bucharest, as well as the ambassadors of Cyprus, Estonia, Thailand, Nigeria and Bangladesh, responsible for Romania and Bulgaria.
On the first evening of the program of "March Music Days" was presented the latest work of Maestro Tabakov, dedicated to his hometown of Ruse. The author of the libretto is the former ballet artist from the troupe of the Ruse Opera Alexander Malchev. On the conductor's desk will be Maestro Tabakov himself.
The ballet in two acts tells one of the most beautiful urban legends in Ruse – that of the irresistible beauty Kaliopa and the reformer Midhat Pasha. The days of Ruschuk's distant past come to life through musical paintings, created with the refined and sentimental feeling of the composer, conquering the senses of the listener. The richness of music passes through the genre elements typical of the time of dramaturgical action, reaching the rich musical means of expression of the symphonic sound.
Before the start of the music forum, the exhibition of Nikolay Buzov "Tempo" was opened in the lobby of the Profitable Building. It is part of the events accompanying the forum and the author says that the paintings are a kind of continuation of his plastic, aesthetic and philosophical quests in painting over the past decade.
