Milkov insisted on the formation of an LAG and an LIDG in Ruse
Minister of Agriculture Yavor Gechev and his deputy Georgi Sabev visited Ruse on the occasion of the opening of a two-day international exhibition of products from Bulgarian and Romanian local producers. The event takes place in Arena Ruse and is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Ruse Municipality.
Participants present a variety of products created by the Local Initiative Groups funded under the Community-led Local Development approach of the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020.
"After visiting the exhibition, I am convinced that the settlements of Ruse Municipality should unite in a Local Initiative Group (LIG) or a Local Initiative Fisheries Group (LIFG)," said Mayor Pencho Milkov.
"Such events should happen regularly because we need to get to know the wealth of our own products that are produced in our country and support them by buying more of them," said Minister Yavor Gechev.
The Deputy Minister said that in the new programming period nearly 550 million EUR will be allocated. lv. under the Community-led Local Development approach. And 250 million. eUR are earmarked for farmers under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan. Early next year, the ministry will launch a large-scale information campaign across the country to introduce farmers and producers to external funding opportunities.
A special address to the participants in the exhibition was also given by the Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski. The programme continued with a thematic discussion forum with foreign participation, dedicated to the support of producers in the territories of the Local Initiative Groups and opportunities for cooperation. Representatives of various institutions, legislative bodies and Local Initiative Groups participated.
Guests of the event were also the Governor of Ruse Anatoly Stanev and the Head of the Managing Authority of the Community-Led Local Development Approach in Romania Bogdan Alecu.
