Military-patriotic organizations from Bulgaria and Romania discussed new forms of cooperation in Ruse

The leaders of the reserve officers' unions from Bulgaria and Romania met today in the Municipality of Ruse. The conversation was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Ruse Dimitar Nedev, the Director of the Public Order and Security Directorate Georgi Ignatov, General Zlatan Stoykov - Chairman of the Union of Reserve Officers and Sergeants in Sofia, and Colonel Mladen Mladenov - Deputy Chairman of the Union of Reserve Officers and Sergeants in Sofia. From Romania, the guests were Major General Marian Buchuman - First Deputy Chairman of ANCMRR "Alexander Ioan Cuza" in Bucharest, and Lieutenant Colonel Adrian Dragut - Chairman of ANCMRR "Mircea Stari", Giurgiu branch.

Hosts from the Regional Union of Officers and Sergeants from the Reserve and Reserve in Ruse were Vesselin Dodev - Lieutenant Colonel of the Reserve, Chairman of the RUOSRR, Ivan Chehlarov - Colonel of the Reserve, Deputy Chairman, and Georgi Nikolov - Colonel of the Reserve, also Deputy Chairman of the Union. Among the participants in the meeting were Colonel Vasil Petrov - Chief of the Military District, Lieutenant Colonel Pavlin Iliev - Chief of the Garrison and Commander of Military Formation 32420, and Nikolay Nanov - Major of the Reserve, Translator from Romanian.

Dimitar Nedev stated that reserve officers bring invaluable experience of military service, knowledge of the defense needs of countries and responsibility to the younger generations. “Strengthening our defense capabilities and building a safer world for our children are extremely important topics that need to be discussed by professionals like you. In a world of dynamic changes and new challenges, international dialogue and joint efforts are more necessary than ever,” said Nedev. He shared the experience of the Ruse Municipality in creating volunteer units and the local authorities’ care for their development. The Deputy Mayor highlighted the indispensable role of volunteers in extinguishing the fires around Ruse a week ago. He stressed the need for young people to be trained to respond adequately in crisis situations.

The central topic of the discussion was the expansion of international cooperation. The emphasis was placed on the creation of sustainable mechanisms for the exchange of experience, joint initiatives and coordinated actions in the field of defense.

The need for military-patriotic education and training of young people was also discussed. The Romanian guests shared good practices for enhancing defense culture in educational institutions. They specified that the reserve officers visit schools and educational institutions to promote military training and military service.

Major General Marian Buchuman announced that this year marks the centenary of the establishment of the Romanian Reserve Officers' Union and on this occasion presented an honorary plaque to Dimitar Nedev as a sign of gratitude to the Municipality of Ruse for its contribution to the development of good neighborly relations between Bulgaria and Romania.
