Minister Nikola Stoyanov in Ruse: '' Over 7 billion euro trade with Romania for this year"

Friday, 16 September 2022

"Bulgarian-Romanian trade is growing at a very fast pace. Between 2020 and 2021, there has been a growth of nearly 40%, and this year we are heading for over 7 billion euro trade," Minister of Economy Nikola Stoyanov said during his visit to Ruse today.

The occasion for the visit was his participation in the annual meeting of the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. It was also attended by the Mayor of Ruse Pencho Milkov, our Ambassador in Bucharest H. E. Radko Vlajkov, the head of the Office for Trade and Economic Affairs in Bucharest Ivaylo Marinov and the economic counsellor at the Romanian Embassy in Bulgaria Radu Moldovan.

"The chronic neglect and underfunding of Ruse undoubtedly hampers our ties with Romania and Bucharest, with which we are developing in the same economic region. The truck crisis further complicates the situation, but the presence of Minister Stoyanov today shows that the state perceives Ruse's problems as national. We managed to achieve what I have been fighting for for a long time - to turn the eyes of the state towards our city", said Mayor Pencho Milkov. He added that he is extremely grateful to the team of the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which has been actively working for 19 years and assisting businesses on both sides of the Danube to lend a hand.

"The investment profile of Ruse Municipality, of which we are proud, was created jointly by the teams of the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Economy. We have worked well with them and I am ready to continue implementing other projects together," said Milkov.

After the meeting with the members and the management of the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Minister Stoyanov left for a meeting with the management of Bulmarket to get acquainted with the main challenges faced by the Ruse business.
