Thursday, 01 December 2022

Overcoming the regional imbalance and directing a significant part of the funds under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan and the EU structural funds to Northern Bulgaria were some of the topics discussed at a working meeting between Ruse Mayor Pencho Milkov and Minister of Innovation and Growth Alexander Pulev.
According to Pulev, for decades Northern Bulgaria has been put at a disadvantage, but the time has come for the state to do the necessary and the lag to be overcome by encouraging investment in the region. Pencho Milkov pointed to the uncertain domestic political situation and the frequent change of governments as an obstacle to the implementation of investment plans. He assured the Minister of Innovation and Growth that he will not stop drawing the attention of the State to Northern Bulgaria and will continue to push for a number of issues to be addressed.

Among them are those related to the traffic on the Danube bridge, as well as the request that part of the revenue collected from the border crossing fee should go to the municipal budget.

The mayor briefed Minister Pulev on the large-scale initiative of Ruse Municipality to introduce robotics as part of the educational process of all third-graders in the schools of the municipality. In his words, the local administration will continue to support the processes for the implementation of innovations, starting from an early age, passing through school education and finding its logical conclusion at the University of Ruse.

A little later, Pencho Milkov and Alexander Pulev took part in an official press conference, where the Ministry of Innovation and Growth gave detailed information about the four procedures under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan and the EU Structural Funds, as well as the opportunities for applying for them.
