More than 240 athletes will compete in the traditional Ruse-Giurgiu race

A unique and unrepeatable sporting event with a start in one country and a finish in another - the traditional Free Spirit Run Giurgiu - Ruse, will take place on September 25.
On the principle of rotation, every year the start and finish are changed. In 2022, the start of the 15-kilometer course will be given in the center of the city of Giurgiu, Romania, and the final will be in Ruse, Bulgaria.
The predominantly flat route crosses the main attractions of the two Danube cities. The border crossing is non-stop, along the unique 2 km friendship bridge connecting the two coasts.
The capacity of the event is 300 pre-registered participants - amateurs and professionals, and 245 people have applied so far. After the cancellation of last year's edition due to COVID measures, this year's run promises great competition with runners from Bulgaria, Romania, Israel, Turkey, South Africa, Italy and the United Kingdom.
Each participant receives an anniversary medal, T-shirt, transport from/to the start-finish. The top men and women in the overall classification and age groups also receive cash prizes.
The minimum age is 18. Each participant must be able to legally travel and reside in the territory of Bulgaria and Romania.
The competition is organized by the Sports Athletics Club "Danube" and the Municipality of Ruse and is included in the calendar of the European Athletics Federation.
