The Deputy Mayor of Ruse Zlatomira Stefanova welcomed some of the cyclists in this year's edition of the 740-kilometer Danube Ultra route. She congratulated them for the courage to embark on the adventure and thanked the organizer Boris Begamov for the initiative, which aims to promote nearly 120 Bulgarian villages and towns along the Danube.

Yesterday, about 50 of the cyclists arrived in stages to the designated area near the round fountain, where they were welcomed with refreshments and fruits by the employees of the Tourist Information Center of Ruse Municipality. About 50 more enthusiasts are expected to arrive today out of the 160 who signed up to participate. From Ruse they head to Tutrakan and Silistra until they reach their final destination, the Black Sea coast at Durankulak.

Danube Ultra 2022, designated as cycling route No. 1 in Bulgaria, includes 119 settlements - 17 cities and 102 villages along the Danube and Dobruja, and the start of the initiative was given in Vidin on August 28. The main idea, which captivated dozens of public and private organizations, is to promote the settlements intended to be visited as destinations in the least developed economic region in the European Union. Dunav Ultra is also the winner of the Grand Prize "Innovation of the Year in Tourism".
