Over 170 students from Ruse participated in a cross and relay race dedicated to the fight against addictions

Over 170 students took part today in Ruse in a sports initiative dedicated to the fight against addictions. The event in the Youth Park was organized by the Rotary Club "Danube", the Regional Department of Education - Ruse and the Sports Athletics Club "Danube". It included two disciplines - cross and relay. Children from 5. to 7. grade from "Ivan Vazov" Primary School, "V. Aprilov" Primary School, "Vazrazhdane" Secondary School, "Baba Tonka" High School, "O. Panov" Primary School, "Vasil Levski" Secondary School, "Friedrich Schiller" Secondary School, "A. Konstantinov" Primary School and "St. Constantine-Cyril the Philosopher" Secondary School.

The event was held under the title "With the Heart of an Enlightener, with the Power of a Winner. Together against addictions". The chairperson of the Rotary Club of Ruse, Galya Pencheva, explained that the goal is for students to engage in activities that are good for health in their free time. "Through sports, we help them not to fall into companies where substances prohibited by law are used," said Pencheva, who wished everyone success, positive emotions and sportsmanship.

Iskra Ivanova – Chairperson of the Municipal Council on Narcotic Substances and Head of the Health Activities Department in the Municipality of Ruse, presented a congratulatory address on behalf of the Mayor Pencho Milkov. It says that promoting a healthy lifestyle helps young people respond to challenges and successfully overcome them.

Galya Pencheva emphasized the good cooperation with the Municipality of Ruse, the Regional Education Department - Ruse, Rumen Nikolaev and his initiative "Independent of dependencies", etc. The Head of the Department of Organizational and Methodological Activity and Control at the Regional Education Department Boryana Petkova also congratulated the parents, teachers and children present.

The winners of the first three places received a cup, a diploma, a medal and a T-shirt, and all participants were awarded with a sports backpack with the inscription "Together against addictions in children".

The event was dedicated to November 1, the Day of the National Revival Leaders.
