With balanced and sustainable solutions, Ruse will develop as a city with a clear future and a significant role both in the region and at the national level. This was stated by Mayor Pencho Milkov during the third discussion panel "Debate of Cities" at the Third Annual Conference on Construction and Investment. It was organized by "Manager" magazine, and the panel, which was also attended by Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev, offered a debate on the future of cities in the country and their long-term development with an emphasis on promoting investments and housing policies.
Pencho Milkov emphasized the importance of balanced management and long-term planning for the future of Bulgarian cities. In his speech, he pointed out that Ruse, although the largest city along the Danube, has been neglected by the state in recent years.Milkov emphasized the need for the city to take its well-deserved place as a strategic center and pointed out his efforts to attract national attention both to Ruse and to the municipalities in Northern Bulgaria.
The Mayor of Ruse said that his goal is for the city to continue to develop as a balanced and sustainable community that attracts investments and becomes a safe place for young people and businesses. "The confidence of companies in our municipality is visible - the automotive industry is growing, and local companies are also expanding their activities. This shows that Ruse is an attractive place for business and investment," said Milkov.
He also stressed that mayors are often faced with the choice of whether to make popular or correct decisions and added that for him the priority is to achieve long-term success for the city. "I fully agree with Mayor Terziev that it is extremely important to have a 10-15-year vision for development and to escape from the heroic approach to governance. The goal is to create a well-functioning system that will be followed by each administration and simplify the processes," said Milkov.
The Mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev also outlined his vision for the long-term development of the capital. According to him, the key to the successful management of Sofia is to improve infrastructure and create better living conditions, and large investments should be directed to transport and sustainable development.
At the end of the discussion, Pencho Milkov emphasized the importance of mutual trust between business and administration, noting that cities should be governed with clearly distributed responsibilities and well-defined strategic priorities, which should be followed with vision and patience. According to him, the successful management of the city requires a balance between short-term actions and long-term decisions, guided by the needs of citizens and businesses.
The Third Annual Conference on Construction and Investments of the magazine "Manager" proposed two more panels in which key experts from the construction industry discussed the most current topics related to the housing market, the investment climate, the green transformation in construction, as well as effective ways to prevent water pollution.
