The Mayor of Ruse, Pencho Milkov, today officially opened the new STEAM Center for Creative Technologies at the ''Geo Milev'' English Language High School. The premises are located on the ground floor of the school and include six modernly equipped classrooms for Bulgarian language and literature and foreign languages.
“Today we are witnessing an important step for the future of education in Ruse. The new STEAM Center for Creative Technologies is a bridge to the professions of the future and I am convinced that here students will develop their talents and turn their ideas into reality. The innovative premises are an investment in the young people of Ruse, who are our greatest strength,” the mayor said to those present. He wished all students and their teachers inspiration, courage and success in their creative path. The mayor extended special thanks to the director of the English Language High School, Margarita Yanakieva, emphasizing that the school successfully combines tradition and innovation, which enriches our entire city.
The center was built with funds from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and is worth a little more than 265 thousand leva. Its focus is on creative technologies and the development of digital skills of students in the specialized training, as well as in the specialty "Computer Animation". The new space has art, animation and creative studios with professional software, video and audio equipment, virtual and augmented reality. It will also be used by school clubs - a theater group, a vocal formation, a rock band and a club "STEAM, Robotics and Programming".
The blessing of water for the opening for well-being and success of the new center was served by Archpriest Simeon from the Holy Metropolis of Ruse. The STEAM Center for Creative Technologies is the second innovative space of this type at English Language High School "Geo Milev". In 2022, a STEAM center for eco-innovations was opened at the school, whose focus is the development of knowledge, skills and competencies that allow for full personal and professional realization.
To date, 21 STEAM centers are operating in educational institutions in the municipality of Ruse, and it is expected that innovative premises of this type will be operational in all schools and in the Center for Special Educational Support by the end of the 2025/2026 school year.
