Romania will send the largest delegation of competitors to the Balkan Shinkyokushin Karate Championship, which will take place on September 6 /Saturday/ at 10 am in the Arena Ruse hall. This became clear at today's press conference at the BTA press club in Ruse, which was attended by Deputy Mayor Borislav Rachev, Shihan Boris Nikolov - Chairman of the Bulgarian Shinkyokushin Karate Federation (BKSF), Shihan Georgi Popov - Technical Director of BKSF, Dima Yaneva - General Secretary of BKSF and Tsvetelina Vladikova - Technical Secretary of BKSF.
A competition of such a rank will be held for the first time in Bulgaria. Deputy Mayor Rachev emphasized that organizing a championship of such a scale represents both a great challenge and a huge opportunity for the city. "This is a chance to show the sporting spirit of Ruse and to turn the competition into a celebration of will, discipline and respect. I believe that all participants will give their best, and the audience will witness a fair and dignified competition," said Rachev.
The Chairman of the Federation of BKSF Boris Nikolov expressed his gratitude to Mayor Pencho Milkov and his team for the support that the Municipality of Ruse provides in organizing the championship. "The most important result that we aim for with this competition is to motivate children to play more sports, to break away from the screens and to engage in physical activity," explained Nikolov.
He announced that the official guests of the event will be Anka Wolmen (fifth dan from Romania) - Chairman of the Romanian Federation and Secretary General of the European Karate Organization, and Jan Bellow (seventh dan from Denmark) - Chairman of the European Technical Commission.
Technical Director Georgi Popov specified the competition program and explained that in the first part the karatekas will compete in the kata discipline, and after 13:00 the fights in the kumite discipline will begin.
The audience will be able to follow the competition between nearly 300 representatives from Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Romania and Croatia. Entrance to the championship is free.
