A regional forum on the topic "Energy Communities - a European tool for a strong local economy, clean transport and affordable energy" was held at the Ruse University "Angel Kanchev".
The event was organized by the Association of Bulgarian Cities and Regions, together with the Municipality of Ruse, the Regional Administration, the Ruse University "Angel Kanchev", the Bulgarian Smart Grid Chamber and the National Taxi Union, with scientific and technological assistance from the Bulgarian platform for energy community management GRID-ONE.eu and T&D Engineering.
The forum was opened by Stefan Abadzhiev, Chairman of the Bulgarian Smart Grid Chamber. In his welcome address, he emphasized the importance of energy communities as a driver for local development, energy independence and a just transition to a green economy.
Among the participants in the forum were Dragomir Draganov, Regional Governor of Ruse Region, Prof. Daniel Bratanov, Vice-Rector of the University of Ruse “Angel Kanchev”, Ergin Emin - Chairman of the Association of Bulgarian Cities and Regions (ABCR), Lyuba Nikiforova - Executive Director of the Fund for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Sources (FEERS), Mirela Krondeva - Association of Bulgarian Cities and Regions, as well as Eng. Gospodin Tabakov - Executive Director of TDS Energreen, as well as representatives of the Municipality of Ruse.
The participants discussed the opportunities for the development of energy communities in Bulgaria, their role in achieving a sustainable local economy, energy efficiency and affordable green energy, as well as the opportunities for financing through the Social Climate Fund and other European programs.
The forum was held under the auspices of the Mayor of Ruse Municipality Pencho Milkov and the Rector of the University of Ruse, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Desislava Atanasova, as part of the initiatives in support of the European Green Deal.
