Friday, 14 August 2026

The European Ship Modeling Championship for the “ZMS Ivan Marinov” Cup is being held on the lake in the Lipnik Forest Park until August 16. The organizers are the “ZMS Ivan Marinov” Ship Modeling Sports Club – Ruse with the support of the Municipality of Ruse and the Bulgarian Ship Modeling Federation.

Deputy Mayor Borislav Rachev opened the event today and presented the club’s chairman Krasimir Georgiev with a congratulatory address from Mayor Pencho Milkov. Rachev congratulated the competitors on the preparation and perseverance necessary for achievements in this technical and precise sport, and thanked the club for its efforts to preserve and develop the tradition of ship modeling in Ruse. “The lake in the forest park has become a natural home for this sport – a place where children and adults can develop their skills and passion for modeling. The Ruse Municipality is making efforts to maintain and develop this base, continues to invest in the infrastructure around the lake and in support of the clubs that train here, because we want this sport to attract new generations of followers,” said Rachev.

Georgiev emphasized that ship modeling requires perseverance, accuracy and a lot of love for detail. He highlighted the contribution of volunteers and club members to the organization and wished everyone success in the competition.

Participants from Bulgaria, Ukraine and Romania are competing with radio-controlled ship models in the “M” class. The individual starts include boys and girls, men and women, divided into 11 classes – Mini Eco, Eco Expert, Mini Mono, Mini Hydro, Mono 1, Hydro 1, Mono 2, Hydro 2, Team, FSR-E and Mini FSR-E.

On Sunday, the final races will be held and the winners in the individual classes will be determined.
