A Bulgarian-Romanian conference under the title "United Europe - a path to economic security and sustainable integration" was held today in Ruse. Official guests of the forum are the Ministers of Economy of the two countries Bogdan Bogdanov and Stefan-Radu Oprya, Ambassadors H.E.Radko Vlajkov and H.E.Brundusha Predescu, as well as heads of chambers of commerce and clusters. H. E. Andrea Ikić-Böhm, Ambassador of the Republic of Austria, who has been in the city since yesterday.
The Mayor of Ruse Pencho Milkov opened the event in the Europe Hall of the Dokhodno zdanie, focusing on the long-standing connectivity between the two countries and their European development.
"Ruse and Giurgiu are an example of fruitful work, and our municipal councils have been working for years on solving common problems. I believe in the positive decisions that can be taken by the governments of the two countries, as well as in the signal of unity that we are sending with the forum in Ruse", Milkov said.
The event brought together the heads of chambers of commerce of the two countries, investors, representatives of foreign and local businesses. A priority topic in the talks was the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to Schengen, the logistical problems at the border that hinder not only investors and businesses in the two countries, but also the whole of Europe. The economic future of the region, key infrastructure projects, as well as best practices among businesses were discussed.
The event is organised by the Ministries of Economy of Bulgaria and Romania.
