Ruse Mayor Pencho Milkov will defend local authorities at the Council of Europe

The Mayor of Ruse Municipality Pencho Milkov will be part of the Bulgarian delegation to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. He is among the six Bulgarian representatives for the 2026-2031 term. The decision was approved today by the Council of Ministers, which updated the procedure for determining the composition of the Bulgarian national delegation.

Milkov's election to the prestigious European institution is a recognition of his contribution to the development of local self-government and establishes Ruse as an important partner in international processes at the local level. The participation of representatives of Bulgarian municipalities in the Congress is an important direction in the international activity of local self-government bodies, which contributes to the improvement of local governance and the development of local democracy.

Along with the mayor of Ruse, the delegation includes five other mayors: Kostadin Dimitrov - mayor of Plovdiv Municipality, Galina Stoyanova - mayor of Kazanlak Municipality, Galya Zaharieva - mayor of Nova Zagora Municipality, Arben Mimenov - mayor of Satovcha Municipality, and Elena Baltadzhieva - mayor of Kavarna Municipality.

The composition of the Bulgarian national delegation has been determined in coordination with the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB) in accordance with the requirements of the revised Charter of the Congress.
