Ruse Municipality to celebrate European Mobility Week

For another year Ruse Municipality takes part in the European Mobility Week. The campaign runs from 16 to 22 September under the slogan "Combine and Move" and the theme is "Saving Energy". A number of initiatives are planned to raise public awareness of road safety issues.

Association "Velo - Ruse", "Tumba Solutions", Association "SpoDari" and the Municipal Traffic Safety Commission are the partner organizations that will implement several events related to safe mobility.

People of all ages will be able to participate in the Move on Foot competition. Participants can set a record for the most steps walked from 00:00 on 16 September to 23:59 on 22 September. The competition regulations can be found here.
During the campaign period, the "Traffic is You" competition, organised by Tumba Solutions, will take place. It will reward those who have spent the most active minutes on the WeRide. Today app in the city of Ruse. More details can be found here.

On 20 September /Wednesday/ from 4 pm to 6 pm in the Youth Park at the beginning of Peristeri Alley, several events will take place as part of the campaign.

Children from several kindergartens will be painting on the theme of "Cars of the Future" and their artwork will be presented on the day of the event.

The pupils of the "Chuchuliga" kindergarten and the "St. Constantine-Cyril Philosopher" will draw with chalk on the theme "Saving the natural resources of the planet through the ecological movement and consumption of our human energy".

A quiz with 10 questions related to the city of Ruse, safe traffic and alternative transport will be held. There are attractive prizes for those who answer correctly.

The SpoDari Foundation will conduct a training aimed at children's safety on the road and in particular when cycling in the form of an interactive and educational experience. In the form of a game, the children will repeat and experience the information received. The training will take place in several main modules:

introducing children to the main types of bicycle (city bike, mountain bike, road and cargo bike, folding bike, e-bike), how to choose the right type and size of bike, what are its main parts;
what we need to do to check that the bike and we are ready for the road by applying a few simple ABC (air, brakes, chain) rules;
an explanation of the main road signs to be aware of when cycling, driving or walking, and the signals that cyclists give to other road users.

There will also be a Toomba Solutions booth on Peristeri Alley. Participants will be able to register in the mobile application WeRide. Today with e-mail and mark 5 problem sections. It will be explained to them how to share suggestions for improvements in the cycling infrastructure and give suggestions to the Ruse Municipality. Willing participants will be entered into a prize draw.

On 22 September /Friday/ from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m. Ruse Municipality joins the traditional European initiative "Car Free Day". The streets "Khan Krum" and "Khan Asparuh" will be closed to vehicles and a station measuring air purity will be placed there. On this day the Association "Velo-Ruse" will demonstrate traffic on the contra-flow /meeting bike lanes/ in the closed section.
