Ruse skate playground promises to be one of the best in Bulgaria

Wednesday, 21 June 2023

The construction of the long-awaited skate playground, located next to the Alpineum in the Youth Park in Ruse, continues.

Because of the peculiarities of the project and the complex cylindrical and spherical shapes, it was worked on mostly by hand. However, the contractor expects to complete the work in August.

Both the designer Georgi Georgiev, who presented the idea in detail to the skate community last autumn, and Radney Radnev - a representative of Ruse Skateboarding Club and a long-time organizer of skate events in the city - are involved in the construction.

Despite their experience in building skate playgrounds all over the country, the team encountered for the first time the typical Ruse loess soil. The builders say they had difficulties during rainy days when they had to reinforce the reverse embankment. This has delayed the activities to some extent, but makes them more motivated to finish on time.
"The park we are making here as a concept and as an implementation will probably be the best so far in Bulgaria. There is something for everyone - from the oldest to the youngest. Here one can start to learn and at the same time there are conditions for professionals who I think will be satisfied," says Radnev.

The facility will include two main sections - a bowl and a street (with elements from the urban environment). The polished concrete implies good speed when riding and performing more technical tricks and at the same time does not allow vibrations and noise like the metal facilities next to the House of Culture that were used until recently.

The location of the skate playground in the park gives excellent conditions for skating even in the heat, and at the express insistence of Mayor Pencho Milkov, the project and its implementation have not affected a single tree and will preserve the bear, beloved by the citizens of Ruse, next to the Alpineum.

"It will be soon and then we will have a lot of fun. The place is unique and everyone I have shown it to is nobly envious," said Georgiev, who has been riding for more than 30 years and is also eager to try out the new Ruse acquisition.

"Geramis International is a Bulgarian company that has designed and built skateparks in Sofia, Burgas, Dobrich, Samokov, Pomorie, Tsarevo and many others. The focus of the company's work is the overall design, quality workmanship and aesthetics of the specific shapes of the skate facilities.
