Ruse will commemorate the 150th anniversary of Vasil Levski's death on 18 February

Ruse Municipality and the Regional Administration will jointly commemorate the 150th anniversary of the hanging of Vasil Levski. This year the wreath-laying ceremony at the monument to the national hero in the Park of the Revivalists will be on February 18. Worship will begin at 11 am.

The event will be attended by the Municipal Wind Orchestra with conductor Dimcho Rubchev, an honor guard from the National Society "Tradition" - Regional Branch "Angel Kanchev" and an honor guard from the Ruse Garrison and the 13th Guards Youth Detachment, as well as alumni of the Municipal Children's Center for Culture and Art.

We remind you that the date for the commemoration of the tragic event was changed in January after a unanimous vote of the Public Council for Culture. The members of the council decided to commemorate the anniversary on February 18, as was adopted in other Bulgarian towns, including Vasil Levski's hometown - Karlovo.

The discrepancy is due to the difference in the counting of days in the change from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar.
