Monday, 17 August 2026

Ruse will once again host the largest tourist rowing regatta in Europe and the world. The participants in the 69th edition of the TID - the International Tourist Danube Regatta, will dock on Tuesday, August 18, on the shore at the Port Ruse yacht club. Nearly 100 boats from eight countries are expected to arrive - Germany, Great Britain, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria and Bulgaria. The Bulgarian representatives are about 80, and among them there are 10 from Ruse. The rowers will be officially welcomed at 7 p.m. by representatives of the Ruse Municipality and the Prista Tourist Association.

The regatta started on June 20 from the German city of Ingolstadt, near the sources of the river, and passed through the German, Austrian, Slovak, Hungarian, Croatian and Serbian sections. The participants cover over 2,500 km along the Danube – from Ingolstadt to Sulina, where the river flows into the Black Sea. This year the journey is even more challenging due to the low level of the Danube, which makes it difficult to navigate.

On August 9, the boats entered Bulgaria through Novo Selo, Vidin Region. The crossing in the Bulgarian section lasts about two weeks, and the final will be on August 23 in Silistra.

The rowers will stay in Ruse until August 20, with August 19 designated as a free day, on which the Municipality of Ruse will offer a free tourist tour, through which guests can get acquainted with the cultural and historical heritage of the city.

After that, the regatta will sail to Ryahovo, Tutrakan, Vetren, Silistra, Braila and the Danube Delta.
