State Archive - Ruse celebrated its 70th anniversary

Yesterday in the foyer of the "Dohodno zdanie" was opened the exhibition "The Treasures of the State Archives", which marks 70 years since the establishment of the institution in Bulgaria. The exposition can be seen by the citizens and guests of Ruse until October 20.

"The history of the State Archive - Ruse is a proof of the dedicated spirit of its staff and the tireless efforts to turn information into knowledge and love for the past. "

With these words the deputy mayor Encho Enchev addressed the head of the department "State Archive" - Ruse Tolya Chorbadjieva. The event was attended by the Governor of Ruse Anatoly Stanev, the Director of the Regional History Museum prof. Nikolay Nenov, the Executive Director of Euroregion "Danubius" Lili Gancheva, as well as many citizens of Ruse who came to see the 30 panels with testimonies about the memory of Bulgaria and Ruse.

The choristers of the "St. George the Victorious" choir at the Municipal Youth Center took care of the mood. The award for reader of the past year was also presented at a solemn ceremony. Ilia Iliev was distinguished, who got acquainted with over 100 documents in 2021. The certificate for the most valuable donation was awarded to the two sons of Georgi Chendov - Yuli and Petar, (the latter was awarded posthumously). Georgi Chendov participated in the construction of the State Opera - Ruse and was its first director. He is also the author of the books "When Ruse was Ruschuk" (1985) and "Peacock Feather" (2006), articles and reviews in the magazines "Bulgarian Music" and "Musical Horizons", numerous materials in periodicals. Nikolay Genchev, Radka Goicheva, Vasil Dimitrov and Velichka Ivanova Kadkyovlieva also received certificates for their donations.

State Archives - Ruse was established in 1952 as a department of the District Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Ruse. In 1992, it was transferred to the direct administrative subordination of the Main Directorate of Archives at the Council of Ministers. Since 1978, it has received the status of a directorate, and in 2010 it was restructured into a department.
