The first new trolleybuses of "Municipal Transport", manufactured in the Czech Republic, arrived in Ruse. Within one month, 15 modern vehicles will be delivered that run entirely on electricity and guarantee zero emissions.
The trolleybuses are yet to be licensed and insured so that they can be put into service.
They have a capacity of 90 seats, 35 of which are seated, and there is also space for people with disabilities. They are equipped with a wheelchair ramp that can be used by parents with small children.
With the new 15 trolleybuses, the municipal fleet will now have 96 vehicles, and in 4 years their number has almost tripled. Municipal Transport is currently recruiting drivers who will be able to cover all city routes. Employees now work with higher salaries in line with the current economic situation in the country.
We would like to remind you that since 1 November municipal transport serves 9 of the 17 private lines. It continues its gradual strengthening and becoming the only carrier in the city.
The activities are carried out under the project "Improvement of air quality through the purchase and delivery of electric vehicles for road transport - electric buses and trolleybuses for the Municipality of Ruse", funded by the Operational Programme "Environment" 2014-2020, co-financed by the European Union through the Cohesion Fund.
By phasing out 20 diesel buses and replacing them with new electric buses, a significant amount of fine particulate matter (PMF) is expected to be saved. The replacement of 15 trolleybuses, manufactured between 1982 and 1984, with new ones will improve the energy efficiency of public transport. Thus, the project will contribute to the achievement of Specific Objective 1 "Reduction of air pollution by reducing the amount of FPH10/NOx" under Priority Axis 5 "Improvement of Ambient Air Quality" of the 2014-2020 ENPI.
