The traditional exhibition "The Past Today", which was realized on the idea of the State Archives - Ruse, with the financial support of the Municipal Foundation "Ruse-City of the Free Spirit" and "Express Service" OOD, was opened last night. The boards are exhibited in the city center, on Aleksandrovska Street opposite the Courthouse, and will remain there until late autumn.
The exhibition "The Past Today" is an attempt to make a connection between the past and the present of Rousse, showing in an innovative way to the general public what the city was like in the middle of the 20th century and today. The fourth consecutive edition of the exhibition presents the city to us from above. The exhibited archival photos are stored in the State Archives - Ruse and were taken from an airplane. Next to them are juxtaposed photos from the present, taken with a drone by the best photographers of Ruse - Yavor Michev and Milcho Yovchev. The exhibition presents certain areas of the city: Svoboda Square, Battenberg Square, Tsar Osvoboditel Blvd., Youth Park, etc. The contrast that occurs between the old archival photo and the current one is extremely curious and shows people how Rousse has changed in more than half a century. More information about the transformation of the city is presented in the short history (in Bulgarian and English) of each of the 11 boards.
In Ruse, you are surrounded by the "past", you just have to know, remember, pass on to future generations. It is a city with imposing white-century architecture, with small, neat squares, as if a piece of Vienna had broken off and floated down the Danube. Historical buildings are those that not only shape the appearance of the city, but are also real "chests of memories" of the city's memory and history. Preserving the cultural and historical heritage of our country over the centuries and in the future should be everyone's mission.
The opening was attended by Zlatomyra Stefanova - Chairperson of the Municipal Foundation "Ruse - City of the Free Spirit", Elena Minkova - Executive Director of the Municipal Foundation "Ruse - City of the Free Spirit", Tolya Chorbadzhieva - Head of the State Archives - Ruse, Tsvetelin Kolev - Manager of "Express Service" OOD and photographers Yavor Michev and Milcho Yovchev.
