The Ruse champions from the recently held European Karate and Boxing Championships were awarded by Mayor Pencho Milkov.
At the end of September in Madrid the competitors of the Sports Karate Club "Ipon"-Ruse with personal coach Miroslav Barbov won prizes at the European Karate Kyokushin-Kan Championships for all ages. 370 athletes from 20 countries took part in the championship. Angel Ganev unquestionably grabbed the gold medal in the category up to 70 kg in the 17-year-olds. Elena Emanuilova placed second after losing in the final to Spain's Antia Reboredo in the U45+ 13-year-old category. Boris Vassilev won the honorary third place in the championship, the kata lost in the semi-final to the Swiss competitor Lenny Taish in the category up to 55 kg in the 15 years.
The people of Ruse also achieved success at the European Boxing Championship for juniors and girls. Victorio Iliev from Sport Boxing Club "Lokomotiv"-Ruse with personal trainer Alexey Ribchev took the second place there. The Bulgarian junior boxing national reached the medal with four emphatic victories over boxers from Georgia, Latvia, Hungary and England. In the final, Iliev faced the athlete from Azerbaijan and lost with 2:3 judges' votes. Thus, our talent remained at the foot of the top of the Old Continent in the 57-kilogram category.

Ruse is not just our hometown, but also a common force that has gathered all the glory and successes of the science, sports and culture that we are developing, and with what you have achieved, you become an irreplaceable part of this great force", the mayor Pencho Milkov congratulated them, handing them money premiums and congratulatory addresses.
