Deepening of the relations between Ruse and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the spheres of culture, education and economy was discussed by the Mayor of Ruse Municipality Pencho Milkov and H. E. Simon van der Burg. The meeting in the building of the local administration was also attended by the Deputy Mayors Zlatomira Stefanova, Dimitar Nedev and Encho Enchev, and the Chairman of the Municipal Council of Ruse Acad. Hristo Beloev.
"We are honored to welcome you in Ruse during the favorite of many Europeans international festival "March Music Days". Ruse is an example of a European city that is constantly evolving. We have set ourselves the goal of improving transport connectivity and we already have confirmation at European level for the construction of a second bridge over the Danube. I believe that this will also help to create new opportunities for the development of trade relations between the two countries, "said Pencho Milkov. The mayor briefed the diplomatic on the economic profile of Ruse and the potential for investments, as well as on the policy of transparency of governance. Special attention was paid to education in the municipality - better training, the introduction of robotics as part of the educational process of 3rd and 4th grade in all schools, places for everyone in pre-school education and the variety of specialties. The development of the University of Ruse "Angel Kanchev" as a place that prepares quality, with innovative thinking, personnel for different sectors was also discussed.
"Ruse is developing extremely well and acquires a modern look. It was a great pleasure for us to visit the March Music Days, and in its next editions we would also participate with our exceptional musicians, "said H. E. Simon van der Burg.
The ambassador's diplomatic career began in 1993 and in the years after that he held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Permanent Representation of the Netherlands to the European Union in Brussels and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Moscow. For the last four years, before arriving in Bulgaria, he served as Ceremonial Master of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander the Dutch.
