The municipal police in Ruse started its activity

The work of the municipal police officers, who until now were trained in the district police stations in Ruse, started. They will monitor the public order around the clock and will be assisted in their activities by the staff of the Specialized Unit "Control, Security, Public Order and Security".
Municipal police officers act under the law of the Ministry of Interior and prevent any kind of crime, including arrest. The main tasks are prevention and combating vandalism, as well as traffic safety control and ensuring the normal movement of public transport. Along with this, the officers will also assist in the security of mass events in the municipality.
The employees of the Municipal Police are directly subordinate to the Mayor of Ruse Municipality and were appointed after completing the mandatory 6-month training course.
It is expected that this year the number of the unit will be increased by another five officers, as the contract with the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior foresees their number to reach 30. The newly formed unit has been provided with two specialised vehicles equipped for the purpose, as well as police uniforms with Ruse Municipality insignia.
