The ninth edition of the Innovative Youth Expo was opened at the Kanev Center of the University of Ruse “Angel Kanchev”. The forum brought together over 260 participants – students, young scientists, lecturers, representatives of public institutions and businesses from the country and abroad.
The opening was attended by the Rector of the University of Ruse Assoc. Prof. Dr. Desislava Atanasova, Acad. Hristo Beloev – Honorary Rector and Chairman of the General Assembly, the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov, Deputy Mayors Encho Enchev and Dimitar Nedev, the Mayor of Ruse Municipality Pencho Milkov, the Regional Governor Dragomir Draganov, Deputy Rectors Prof. Dr. Teodor Iliev, Prof. Gencho Popov, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Galina Ivanova and other official guests.
EXPO’25 was opened by the Deputy Rector for Research Prof. Dr. Daniel Bratanov. In her welcoming speech, Assoc. Prof. Atanasova emphasized the importance of the forum as a sustainable platform for promoting innovation and scientific thinking among young people, taking into account the record number of participants and presented projects. Minister Ivanov emphasized the role of the event as a bridge between education, science, business and institutions, noting its contribution to economic and social development through youth entrepreneurship and applicable scientific solutions.
Mayor Pencho Milkov emphasized the need for innovation as a response to contemporary challenges and emphasized the importance of interaction between institutions: “We have no right to catch up, we must leapfrog. That is why we need innovation and creativity. I thank both the university for their impressive team, which provides the opportunity for an event like today to happen, and the teams of our schools, which support the creative thought of our children. The Expo is not just an exhibition – it is a demonstration that Ruse is not a bystander, but an active participant in building a more thoughtful, braver and more creative society.”
The event included over 45 stands located in the lobby and the large hall of the Kanev Center. Projects, prototypes, experimental models and demonstrations in the fields of technology, natural and social sciences, sustainable development and entrepreneurship were presented. Some of the most attractive exhibits included 3D models and models of objects created by students.
Parallel to the exhibition, the final scientific session “Best paper Crystal Prize’25” was held, in which distinguished young scientists from the Spring Festival of Science participated.
The Innovative Youth Expo was held under the auspices of the Minister of Education and Science and the National Representation of Student Councils, and was organized by the Academic Management and the Student Council of the university.
