This year's municipal afforestation program has begun

More than 500 new trees and shrubs cover the afforestation program of the Municipality of Ruse for the autumn-winter season 2022/2023.

This year the focus is on greening the neighborhoods in the city. It is planned to plant sycamore and sycamore trees near blocks 304 and 305 in Charodeyka district, as well as next to the playgrounds at bl. 119 and 213.

74 pieces of thuja have already been planted next to the children's playground at bl. 3 in Druzhba, new tree species will also be available at bl. 13 and 11. In the Zdravets district, the program includes evergreen shrubs to improve the environment next to the fitness area at the bldg. 70.

The activities begin with the removal of dry trees and old stumps, and reforestation with young trees will also take place along the main boulevards in both parks. In the Rosarium, for example, acacia and catalpa will be grown.

With its over 60,000 mapped trees, Ruse is one of the greenest cities in Bulgaria. Over 80% of them were planted in the period 1955-1980 and placed in urban conditions, they age and get sick much faster. The replacement with new species, according to the natural conditions and the distance from the objects of the urban infrastructure, is carried out by the DZZD "Parkstroy" according to a program prepared annually by the "Ecology" department and ME "Parkstroy".

Ruse Municipality reminds citizens that the period from November to February is the most favorable for planting new trees - after the leaves have fallen and when the growing season has ended. The municipal administration urges everyone who has planted a tree not to forget about its care and watering in the first two most important and critical years of its development.
