A new Kyokushin Karate sports club opened its doors in Ruse

Saturday, 02 August 2025

A Kyokushin Karate Sports Club was opened in Ruse with an official ceremony and dedication. "Bushin" is located at 10 "Captain Lieutenant Evstati Vinarov" Street /opposite the entrance to the Summer Theater/ and its head is Sensei Zdravko Ivanov. The guest of the opening was Deputy Mayor Nikola Lazarov.

"The creation of a new Kyokushin Karate club is an important step for the development of sports in our city and for the upbringing of values such as discipline, self-respect and striving for perfection. I believe that the Bushin club will establish itself as a place where worthy young athletes and strong characters will grow up," the deputy mayor addressed those present. On behalf of the mayor Pencho Milkov, he presented Sensei Zdravkov with an icon of the patron saint of Ruse - St. George the Victorious, and wished him and his graduates to be warriors of good.

Those present had the opportunity to watch a demonstration by students.

The room was consecrated by a priest from the Holy Metropolis of Ruse.

Currently, 20 people of different ages are training in the newly opened club, with the youngest karateka being only 4 years old and the oldest being 60. Classes are held three times a week - Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The wish of sensei Zdravkov is in September, when the holiday season ends, to enroll more people. The curriculum is tailored to the age characteristics of the graduates. According to him, the training helps build character, and the name "Bushin" was not chosen by chance - it means "the spirit of the warrior". He shares that the opening of the club is the result of the efforts of many people who believe in the cause of educating strong, worthy and responsible individuals through Kyokushin, which in turn means "supreme truth".

Guests of the event were also the lawyer of ME "Sportni imoti" Iliyan Iliev, many friends of sensei Ivanov, heads of other sports clubs in oriental martial arts and parents and graduates of "Bushin". His congratulations on the success of the undertaking and many future champions were also wished by sensei Rumen Kalinov - Zdravko Ivanov's teacher, to whom he owes his growth.

Sensei Zdravko Ivanov is the holder of a number of awards in karate Kyokushin. Since 2005, his personal record in sports has remained unbeaten – the Ruse native has been the Bulgarian national champion for 9 years in a row.

Those wishing to sign up to train at Bushin can do so by calling 0879/368 348.
