By 2 p.m. almost 2 tons of waste were collected in the territory of Ruse municipality within the framework of the BTV campaign "Let's clean up Bulgaria together". More than 50 employees of the municipal administration also took part in the initiative, cleaning the inter-block spaces and playgrounds in the Broad Center, Vazrajdane area  and Youth Park.

"We should not and cannot rely on the national campaign to keep our common home clean. We have to do it daily. This shows our care and love for it," said Mayor Pencho Milkov. He also took part in the campaign by cleaning the ''Park of the Revivalists'' with citizens and volunteers from the Association "Co-Citizens". Among the most common wastes were cigarette butts and wet wipes, which on average take over 100 years to decompose. There was also no shortage of plastic water and soft drink bottles, cans and plastic packaging that can easily be disposed of in the coloured containers and then recycled. Collected waste from the action was taken away by the garbage collection company "NELSEN Clean" Ltd.

According to the instructions given by the Ministry of Environment and Water, no charges will be levied for the waste collected and disposed of by the initiative.
