Sunday, 25 August 2024

The exhibition "The Spring and the Upper Danube River" was opened yesterday evening on the square in front of the Municipality building in Ruse. The cyclists from the friendly cooperative "Slow Riders" presented at the exposition next to the fountains their photographs taken during their last bike trip. Veliyan Deliyski, the main driver of the fellowship, told the attendees interesting and curious moments of the trip and shared that the exhibition is a kind of wish to stimulate the active lifestyle and tourist potential of the city of Ruse, comparing it with that of our European friends a little further up the river.

The photographs represent corners of the cycling route from the source of the Danube River to Vienna, Austria, and the exhibition and the trip are carried out with the financial support of the Municipal Foundation "Ruse - City of the Free Spirit".

At the opening, the official guest was Tsvetoslav Dimitrov, Director of the Education and Culture Directorate in the Municipality of Ruse, who congratulated the cyclists for the inspiring initiative. He presented them with a congratulatory address from the Mayor of Ruse Municipality Pencho Milkov, who congratulated them for the opportunity for the citizens of Ruse and the guests of the city to touch some of the most beautiful corners of Europe. "With the implementation of your project, you show how important the connection between nature, culture and an active lifestyle is," says the mayor's address to cyclists.

The selected photographs will also be visible to the participants in the Dunav Ultra cycling adventure, whose route will pass through the city of Ruse, and unites hundreds of enthusiasts who cross the northern border of Bulgaria by bicycle.

The citizens of Ruse and the guests of the city are welcome to enjoy the photo exhibition and read the interesting information under the photos, which tells more about the sights and life along the upper reaches of the Danube.

In May, the cyclists Veliyan Deliyski (Ruse), Martin Shivachev (Sofia), Nikola Gyurchev (Ruse) and Vasil Yordanov (Dobrich) embarked on a 1500 km cycling adventure, with nearly 1000 km of the route along the Danube River.
