European investments in education are the most important for people in Ruse, an international project shows

Tuesday, 19 July 2022

Education and healthcare are the two sectors in which, if they had the money and the opportunity, most реорве in Rusе would invest. Their motive was that when people are healthy and educated, they can think and work about everything else, incl. for regional development and measures against climate change.
This kind of public opinion survey was held in Ruse in front of the Revenue Building by the Hungarian organizations European Nouse and Danubiana Network, which implement the project Flowing in the Danube  - Communicating the hidden potential of the region", funded by the EC.

The attention of the citizens was attracted by the colorful stand of the Hungarian guests, as well as by the original way of "voting" for priority areas: education, health care, regional development and climate changes. Into four vases of multicolored liquid, the citizens had to pour a small cup of water of their choice and thus show where they would prefer to invest their money. At the end of the experiment with the highest level turned out to be the vase of education.
The project's focus is on the Danube River as a symbol of connectivity. European Nouse's Danube journeys start in Ulm (Germany) and Krems (Austria) as countries with important net contributions to the EU budget and continue in 8 more cities from five other Danube countries receiving funds from the Cohesion Fund: Komarno (Slovakia), Komarom (Hungary), Mohács (Hungary), Vukovar (Croatia), Calafat (Romania), Vidin, Giurgiu and Ruse. The focus of the project is to understand how the European Union could work better and how to use the Cohesion Fund in a responsible way to reduce disparities between European regions. The initiative with the survey is conducted in the period January - December as a communication project.

In Ruse, in addition to the meeting with local residents in front of the Revenue Building, the conversations about the importance of regional cooperation and the need for support of less developed regions continued during the trip with the "Ruschuk" boat along the Danube river organized by the project.
