French teams dominated the European Club Archery Cup in Ruse

For the second year in a row, Ruse hosted the European Club Archery Cup for men and women in the discipline of reblood. The sports event, which took place over the weekend at the City Stadium, is organized by the Bulgarian Archery Federation with the assistance of the Municipality of Ruse and the Sports Club "Jumbo-2006".  

A total of 29 teams from 21 clubs took part in the competition - 18 men and 11 women. During the two days of the tournament, 120 shooters from 7 countries took to the field - Ireland, Poland, Spain, France, Serbia, Slovenia and Bulgaria.

The competition offered many tense moments and duels, with 4 French teams reaching the semi-finals for men, and 3 French and one Polish for women. After a disputed final, the men's title went to the Compagnie d'Archers de Rennes club, and the second and third places were taken by the Arc Club de Nimes and State Clemontois, respectively. The places up to sixth were also occupied by French clubs, such as the Bulgarian teams – "Dynamics" Silistra, "Trakiets" Sadovo, "Jumbo 2006" Ruse and "Young Shooters" Varna, ranked from 10th to 13th place, respectively. Sofia's "Phoenix Archerry" and "Robin Hood" remained in 15th and 16th place. The oldest participant in the tournament was the 67-year-old Ivan Yotov from Ruse, who is part of the team of "Jumbo-2006".

In the women's category, the first three places were also occupied by players from French clubs. Archers Riomois took the gold, and his runners-up are the Arc Club de Nimes and the Esperance et Vaillantes de Brignais. The Bulgarian teams - "Phoenix Archery" and "Robin Hood" took 10th and 11th place.

At an official ceremony that closed the tournament, the prizes were presented to the winners. They were awarded by the Chairman of the BAF Atanas Temelkov and the Director of ME "Sports Properties" Lacezar Ivanov. Temelkov said after the end of the competition that Ruse is one of the few municipalities in the country that actively support competitions of this kind. He presented Lacezar Ivanov with an honorary plaque, with which the Bulgarian Archery Federation expresses its gratitude to the Municipality of Ruse for  for the cooperation and promotion of this attractive sport.

The significance of the sporting event is also evidenced by the fact that the entire French national team, a silver medalist from the Olympic Games, as well as athletes of the national teams of Spain and Slovenia took part in the competition.
