Iliya Syarov was awarded the title "Honorary Citizen of Ruse"

In a meeting room in the building of Ruse Municipality, the founder and executive director of Boxing Club "Ruse" Iliya Syarov was awarded today with the title "Honorary Citizen of Ruse" for his outstanding contribution to the field of sport, both locally and nationally.

The ceremony was attended by the Mayor Pencho Milkov, the Deputy Mayors of Ruse Municipality, the Chairman of the Municipal Council Acad. Hristo Beloev, municipal councilors, relatives and friends of the sports figure.

"I have known Iliya Syarov for many years and I can definitely say that he is a public figure, a man with a mission, who transforms the lives of many children, creating them not only as athletes, but also as bright personalities and worthy Bulgarians," said Mayor Pencho Milkov.

Iliya Syarov thanked him for the honor and paid tribute to his followers who have supported Ruse Boxing Club over the years. He did not miss to note the assistance of Ruse Municipality, as well as many sponsors, so that athletes can develop and win competitions.

Iliya Spirov Syarov was born in Ruse in 1948. In 1973 he graduated with a boxing coaching profile at the Higher Institute of Physical Culture "Georgi Dimitrov" /National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski"/. He started his career as a coach at the Sports School "Major Atanas Uzunov" – Ruse in 1975 and in the next 14 years he managed to win the recognition and respect of his graduates and colleagues. Meanwhile, he is also the coach of the national boxing team for juniors (16-18 years). He participated as a member of the Management Board of the Bulgarian Boxing Federation for 16 years in the period 2000 - 2016.

Iliya Syarov is the founder of the Ruse Boxing Club established in 1993 and until now he is its Executive Director. The sports club has gained a series of successes thanks to the long-standing, professional and dedicated work of athletes, coaches, sponsors and the Management Board. Currently, the club employs four coaches who are distinguished by high professionalism and sports skills. The school trains children from 10 to 18 years old, as well as men and women over 18 years of age.

The first medal of a major competition was in 1996 at the World Junior Boxing Championships in Cuba, when in the 67 kg category.Iliya Syarov's son, Pavel, won silver.

Under the guidance of its executive director, the club has won numerous medals and awards from national, European and world championships.
