A ceremony was held in the boxing hall of the former Grain Processing Technical School to welcome Radoslav Rosenov, who won his 8th European title at the end of December and returned to Ruse from abroad a few days ago. Mayor Pencho Milkov, the director of ME "Sports Properties" Lachezar Ivanov were official guests of the event.
"I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the emotion, pride and inspiration that you brought to Ruse with this remarkable success, and for being an example for the young people in our city. Another European title is proof of your indomitable spirit and your love for sports. We are proud of the way you glorify Ruse and Bulgaria in the European ring," said the mayor. Pencho Milkov wished Rado Rosenov health, strength and many more victories. The mayor also addressed the young athletes of the boxing club, calling on them to always use their strength to protect those weaker than them.
The young Ruse native shared moments from his triumph in Budapest, which marked his name in golden letters in boxing history, becoming the first athlete with four consecutive gold medals in the 60 kg category. Rosenov talked about his difficulties during the European Championship in the Hungarian capital and the uncontested victory over Chinar Mehmetan from Turkey, whom he defeated with a 5:0 decision. He also revealed his next goal - gold at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
The head coach of the Ruse Boxing Club, Saby Sabev, was also congratulated for the success of his graduate. Pencho Milkov stated that his role in the development of Radoslav Rosenov and in establishing the club as a leading center for high sportsmanship is undeniable and deserves recognition and respect.
The founder of the club and honorary citizen of Ruse, Iliya Syarov, also received special thanks from the mayor, who gives young people a chance to fulfill their dreams and glorify the city.
The mayor of Ruse was honored by the club's management with a plaque of gratitude for his help in the development of boxing.
